How well do Community Board members feel they are set up to deliver their functions and represent their communities?
FrankAdvice used their expertise in survey design and analysis skills for this piece of work to develop options for how Community Boards can be better supported in the future. Drawing on a relational approach to policy advice, FrankAdvice conducted surveys of Community Board members and Mayors, hosted a workshop with the Community Board Executive Committee members, and facilitated discussions with Local Government staff to workshop findings and gather a variety of perspectives.
In order to complement the data gathered, a review of the Local Government Act (2000) and an assessment of good practice informed the development of five recommendations for how the Community Board Executive Committee and Local Government New Zealand can better support Community Boards.
